Hello, bonjour, hola!
Welcome to my first blog in ages.
It’s been crazy trying to spin so many plates, but thanks for
looking me up.
The new book Wings & Behemoths is out
now and available to buy on Amazon. I’ve never been so nervous in
my entire life. Opening up your heart and soul to be judged by
friends, family and strangers alike is unnerving. Do I have a
backbone of steel? Nope. Would I rather hide in my wardrobe with some
salt and vinegar rice cakes? Yep. Add in a massive bar of chocolate
and a black cherry yoghurt or six, and I’d never come out.
Why
is it so hard to let people read your stuff? Because there’s bound
to be someone psychoanalysing you, and then they’ll discover how
truly weird you are. I don’t think I’m weird; I think I’m
passionate about what I like. My best friend stopped going to the
cinema with me because she said that I only liked bloke movies full
of blood and gore, which is actually not true because I’m up for a
bit of love and romance too, and I love a good rom-com, but finding
an original storyline is tough. It’s the same old stuff puked up
again, and I can’t be bothered.
One of the comments
about Wings & Behemoths (which from now on is going to be called
W & B) is that the characters in the story are ordinary. They’re you and me. They’re your brother and his best mate or they’re the
girl who goes to the same college as you, or lives in the same road and you thought she was boring and
did nothing. They are ordinary people who have to rely on each other if they're going to survive .
If I was assembling a
tribe of people to survive the end of the world, I would try and find
people like the ones in the book, so over the next few days I’ll
introduce you to all the book characters and give you a profile and juicy info on each other them. I’m
also trying to draw what they look like, but that might not work
because my drawing skills are nil so don't hold me to that. Besides, is that such a good idea?
If you have a picture in your head of what Farrell or Liam looked
like, then I don’t want to ruin it for you. Audrey and Lois will
also be on hand to give you their words of wisdom, so if you have a
dilemma, drop me a message on my Facebook page, Wings &
Behemoths, and we’ll see what they have to say.
Speak
soon :)
Louise
